The River Coe flows from its sources in the north-eastern base of Buachaille Etive Beag and flows west towards Glen Coe, in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. The river's course brings it crashing down over the falls at the Pass of Glen Coe. From there it runs north west past the site of the Massacre of Glen Coe (1692) and flows gently through Glen Coe village before flowing into the sea at Loch Leven at Invercoe. The image here shows the River Coe just before it flows into Loch Leven, with the mountains of Glen Coe in the background. Today this is a magical and peaceful place, yet erupting in history.
