Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh Castle. Located on a rocky outcrop overlooking the city of Edinburgh in Scotland, is the historic fortress of Edinburgh Castle. During its 1100 year history the castle was apparently besieged 26 times, making it one of the most embattled castles in the British Isles. It was a royal residence until the mid 17th century after which it became a military post. Today it survives in perfect condition and attracts visitors from all over the world. Oddly, the castle is linked with superstition in the city of Edinburgh; research students from the local universities have told me that if you visit the castle you will never graduate.... it certainly looks spooky enough to give rise to this superstition!
