Saint Mary's Abbey

Saint Mary's Abbey, nestled in the little town of Melrose in the Scottish Borders. More commonly known as Melrose Abbey, the Abbey was founded by the Cistercian order around 1136, at the request of King David I of Scotland. Today the Abbey is mostly in ruins, but it's a beautiful and nostalgic place with some remarkably well preserved tombs and gravestones.
